DRAWING LIGHT

2009

The limited ways of representing light, largely borrowed from traditional architectural means of representation, motivated me to explore new modes of drawing light. Even though both disciplines work with space, I think two main topics are missing in the traditional lighting design representation: the consideration of time and the consideration of materials, because it is really through the materials that we see light. My position is that lighting should not just use architectural methods of representation, but that we must find a technique of expression that satisfies its specific needs.
